RECEIVE THE BLACK BELT FROM RICKSON GRACIE |
 |
On February 22 Prof. Takamasa Watanabe received at L.A,
the Black-Belt from Rickson Gracie.
Watanabe had been offered this belt from some Brazilians
instructors before but he politely refused. His goal was
to receive from Rickson and no one else.
"I had the opportunity to get in contact to his technique,
character, and spirituality. After this my perspectives
and vision towards Jiu-Jitsu changed. Rickson is in level
of understanding, not only the techniques, but of life
itself, that any martial art master ever got close. "

AXIS JIU-JITSU SEMINAR |
 |
We had the chance to invite again Leonardo Vieira "Leozinho",
for our 11th Axis Jiu-Jitsu Seminar, held on February
8th of 2003.
Last seminar he instructed here, he showed techniques
from many different positions. This time he concentrated
on half-guard moves, that happens a lot in championships.
He came this time to Japan to fight at the Gi-2., against
Hayakawa from Striple. Leozinho finished the opponent
with a one-hand choke from the mount. He fought with a
bad cold, but the technique overcame all the problems.

Seminar.
He invited this time the instructors, Leonardo
and Ricardo Vieira brothers.
Both have the title of,Brazilian, Pan-American,
and World Champion. |
 |
|

Ricardo Vieira |
 |
This seminiar was programed to be 2 and half hours long,
but it went for almost 4 hours. The difference of this
seminar form the others was that both Leonardo and Ricardo
are very small. All the four past seminars we invited
big instructors such as Sperry and Murilo. The content
was directed for the small people.
They showed moves from many positions. In the end they
also went over other questions regarding preparation for
a competition, etc.
This is their first time in Japan. Their schedule was
very tight, but they said they enjoyed and liked Japan
very much.
There is a possibility for another visit still this year,
and we will try to bring them for another seminar at Axis.
